“Shtëpia e tim Eti”, nga Elinda Marku – Përkthyer në anglisht nga Raimonda Moisiu

Im Atë,
shkoji mbas nanës
I Ri!
E gllabëroji malli
I Maries!
Mbas tyre shkoji edhe gjyshja
Një xheloze e krisur
Shkoji t’u mësonte
Se:
-Asht marre, m’u dasht!

Asht-Shpirt i Maries!
Shtëpia e tim Eti
Po bie!
Të gjithë kanë ikur
Fëmijët,
njani mbas tjetrit
Jashtë,
përtej detit!

****
Shtëpia e tim Eti
Po Bie!
Do t’ kishte ra e rrënu
Sikur secilin gur të saj
T’ mos e kish mbartur
Në shpinë Maria
Sikur secilin gur të saj
T’mos e kish larë
Me lot jetimja!

Shtëpia e tim Eti
Po bie!
T’bijt kanë ble’ shtëpi
T’huaja,
Tjerakund!

Shtëpia e tim Eti
Nuk bie !!
Asht kthy’ Shpirti i Maries
Mbasi ia nxorrën
Kockat prej vorrit!

Shtëpia e tim Eti
Nuk bie!!!
Shpirti i Maries
e mban ende n’kambë
Ndoshta ngaqë mua
Ajo shtëpi m’asht’
edhe Nanë!

S’asht ma e jona
S’asht ma, as e Prenges
Shtëpia e tim Eti
Asht krejt shpirt
Shpirti i Maries
m’pret t’i tregoj
Për të gjallët që la!

T’i them: jemi ashtu, si dikur
Unë, prap larg prej Zefit dhe Nestit!
Me një ujë të madh midis!
Dhe një “ Dritë” që na shkon
mallt e Rutës

Të gjitha nuset e djemve
I tremben shtëpisë së tim Eti
I kemi nuset si macet
E ndjejn eren e robit të djegur
I tremben shpirtit të Maries
Në secilin gur, në secilën tjegull!

My Father’s House

My Dad left this earth,
Since my mother passed on,
Too young!
Missing Marie (his wife) so dearly!

Even after they’re gone,
Our Nana’s gone,
A jealous kind lady,
She’s gone to confess
The gospel truth:
It’s insane, to be loved!

**
That’s Marie’s angel spirit!
My Father’s House,
Is falling!
Their children,
All (they) have gone,
One by one,
Overseas,
Far Away!

**
My Father’s House,
Is falling!
It’d have been entirely ruined
And wrecked!
If it wasn’t for Maria carrying
Each stone on her back,
If it wasn’t for the Orphan’s tears,
Soaking each stone in depth!

**
My Dad’s House,
Is falling down!
The sons have all gone,
And bought new houses,
Wherever they go,
In a foreign land!

**
But my Father’s House
Won’t fall down!
‘Cause Marie’s spirit,
Is flying back home again,
Since they carried her bones,
Out of the burial plot!

But my father’s house
Won’t fell down!
Looks like Marie’s spirit,
Keeps the house still standing up!
‘Cause that house inside of me,
It’s where my Mother is!

My Dad’s House
It’s is not ours anymore,
Not even ours, not even Prang’s,
My Dad’s house,
It’s the house of soul,
As Marie’s spirit expects me to tell;
About those she left behind!

Telling her that we’re,
Just like the old days!
I’m still far away from Zef and Nesti!
There’s the longest river between us!
And a “tiny light” that reminds me of Rutty!

The only thing, the sons’ wives fear; is
My father’s house,
Even though they are like cats,
Smelling of human decay!
The only thing they fear is; Marie’s Soul,
To each tile, to each brick in the wall!
